Default Final Fantasy XIII Models

Link(s):

Not a complete collection of the models yet. Just the 7 models above. Don't ask me for other FFXIII models because I wasn't the one that ripped them and I don't know how.

*Note: The models are obj+tris. Textures included.

Here you guys go:

For some of you that might have trouble with the hair since there is no Alpha map. You can fake one by doing this:

1.Step
Open image with photoshop. and turn it Grayscale.

Link(s):

2.Step
Use Brigtness/contrast on adjustments tap.

Link(s):

3.Step
Apply Filter - Blur - Gaussian Blur (It seems like fake Anti-Aliasing)

Link(s):

4.Step
Use in 3ds Max - Material - Opacity. Apply it to the hair.

Nooo!! That's not how you do it silly.

Go into the channels and Copy the green channel. This is the alpha!

Correct...ish, no need to do all that Photoshop work, just use the images 'as is'.
Also, the Normal maps aren't mapped either... but that was just case of 'plugging' them in.

I put these in to Lightwave, Here's what I got:

Thanks Hererso... Lightwave does have a beautiful render and considering this only took 44 secs, a pretty fast one too!!

No I haven't changed anything... The only thing i had to do, from the original downloaded version (See first thread), was attach the Normal maps. I've not changed anything else - oh, may have tweaked the texture settings in LW to better suit my light rig... but that's all

When i get time, i'll update this thread with converted to LW models with all the textures attached and maybe rigged too!!

Turns out i had a few mins spare.. so I..

Loaded this model back in LW, Rigged, animated and rendered it. Took about 30mins...

Then 4hours to render (with Background radiosity, 7 pass AA and 3 pass Motion blur) Turns out i didn't need that amount of detail rendered in a 640 x 480 Mp4 video...

What more, Imageshack do video too, i do not know that...

so here's the result, link:

Really oathkeeper? I know it's your thread and all... But, I Just feel a bit bad if i take over it with a discussion on another subject.

I don't like it when you look at a thread and it's full of ppl talking about something else - Just like i'm doing now

Anyway, back on target....

I've uploaded the full Lightwave converted scene i used to create that animation. It's got all the textures applied - Inc: Normal maps.

It uses Background radiosity and the DP_Lighting kit, so you'll need that to get the same results i did... or you can set your own lights.

Also, it's rigged with an Autodesk MotionBuilder set of named bones - although not all the weight maps are made for them

Plus there's an FBX file for MotionBuilder link. This is the exported scene out of Lightwave and characterised already in MotionBuilder so it's ready to be animated there too.

I don't use them myself but this FBX file MAY!!!! work in Maya and Max too

There're on multiupload... so it's on [RS], [HF], ... and all the others it mirrors to.

Here you go, enjoy....

Lightwave scene file:

If you're a Max or Maya user please post back and let me know if my FBX file worked and to what level.. I.E. Textures, rigs, etc... working or not.

If it does I'll setup the rest of these files in the same way.

Thank you for the kind words.

Lightwave is the better option IMO, I tried other 3D software and find them all far too complex to set up even the simplest of things.... there's no typing commands or running scripts in my world

The set ups and renderings i've posted are done without any plugins. I run the 64bit version and as such there's not a lot of plugins available but, Lightwave will do this on it's own and very fast.

When i get some spare time I'll get more of these models converted, rigged and posted for you all.

Dmwizzard's fbx loaded just fine in Max 2011. It took a couple minutes to load everything though. Maybe the problem is your fbx version?

I was wondering if anyone can explain the textures needed to get the full render of the models.

I can figure out some of the basic textures but some textures don't make sense.

I can work out: color/diffuse, normal, alpha (clipping map), opacity.

The other texture seem to elude me.

Are any of them: Specular, reflection, Subsurface scattering, etc....?

I just want to figure everything out texture-wise so I can get the full rendering experience.

BTW, thanks muchly for the models.

As near as I can tell Gray = Specular and Red = gloss (specular roughness)
or the other way around, I'm not sure.

Thanks for your efforts, dmwizzard.
You wrote it already, not all the weight maps are perfect, so especially the cape (or mantle or whatever it is) is not so suitable for weighting. So if you pose "fang" in motionbuilder, you get quickly some problems:

Link(s):

Maybe it would be better to make the cape a separate mesh and drive it by cloth simulation. The same goes for all the equipment like weapons or belts. These should'nt be weighted but contrained to the body.

However, as I said: great work and thanks for sharing !
