Celsys Retas Pro HD
Retas! Pro HD, though more specifically Retas! Stylos HD. The suite can be found at:
I managed to find the full english version on a japanese forum however it's uncracked and requires a dongle. If anyone's interested in cracking it I can post it.

Note & help
Not having much luck getting it to work as there is nothing related on how to get it working and upon installing there is a popup in Japanese which doesn't really help me so preferably looking for an English version if possible.
´am still searching for... but there´s no chance ...maybe someday..
If anyone has nabbed this off the posted sites, can you please Re post on Rapidshare or Hotfile?.. Please
Also. as for 2d, TVPaint v9.5.4 is a pretty awesome 2d animation package as well but its not vector based.
On very cd, there is also un update available for retas!pro 5.1 to 6.1 (= retas hd 1 )
For 5.1, there is no problem fof installation because it's the exe in english.
I am looking for Retas Pro HD craked version too, but I have not succes serching it..... seems like nobody have it.
Supposedly a working version
I'm frankly unsure if this version is in English or not. In any case, I can't get it to work, because of a problem (I think) with the virtual dongle. If someone more tech-savvy than I can figure it out, let me know... It MAY be because I'm running Windows 7. However, there IS some very interesting material on this site, regardless.
Please keep in touch as regards your progress.
Thx for the link, the blog is amazing!
Concerning retas hd, it's an asian release. Not english.
I didn't had any problem with the virtual dongle (toro), but i can't open a new document in Stylos.
So not working for me neither ... :(
donnieb, could you please explain how did you get it to run? Do you have any other apps that uses flexlm installed? (i.e. maya, max)
I tried it on XP SP3.
Not yet on Win7 64, as kevphil said it doesn't work there, so I thought I'd try it on XP first and if I managed to get it running, I'd try it on W7.
But well, I can't get it running.
The instruction said that I should run Toro first, then run any of the retas app, while keeping Toro running in the background.
Well, it doesn't work. All retas app shows a message box with "OK" and when I click it it just closes.
Could it be because I have other app that uses flexlm? It's because I noticed that there're 2 lmgrd on task manager's services.
I know they sell an English language version (you can see it in movies on the Celsys site).
My experience is the same as mersenne; how did you get it to work? I also tried running it in various emulation compatibility modes, but no joy.
I know nothing about virtual dongles, but a brief glance at the app (once it opens after an error message) seems to show a lot of fields all blank.
kevphil, to my knowledge, Toro is a dongle sniffer, not an emu.
The way it's supposedly used is that you have the real dongle, run it, and use its features to dump the data out of the dongle.
Then you/somebody else use this data to create a medicine for whatever app that uses the dongle (Not as easy as it sounds though ;) )
That's why I'm really curious as to how this could actually run using just a dongle sniffer, because Toro is not a virtual dongle.
I looked at this release just for fun because of dongle protection. And this release is from a paid cracker. He made his own installer with a password.
Just to make it clear, I know a lot about dongle protection. And this guy aleady removed the dongle protection and put in another "home made protection". First you need to run "Toro Aladdin Dongle Monitor" in the backround, which having nothing to do with a dongle emulator. Its a tool to find out Modad of the dongles (serial numbers) and also "Answer and Question" pairs for the EMU. Again its not an EMU just a tool to find out those values, while working with the "Real Dongle". Its seems he did this just for fun, since otherwise it does not make any sense.
After starting for example CoreRETASHD.exe it will ask you, where the plugins folder is. Point it to the plugins folder where you installed the app (C:\\Programs\RETAS HD\Common Files\PlugIn), click then on the left Tab below. Then exit the app. Start it again, then all Tabs are available and you "could" work with it, if you understand Chinese.
Btw, why using this app, if you have Animate Pro (at least a fully working 1.0 Version)
EDIT: you can easily translate it via PeExplorer and the Demo of Retas HD available here
Lomex & mersenne
Thanks for the info, guys.
I don't show the dialog to which you refer, that lets me select anything;
it's just an error alert.
This is true no matter which of the 4 modules I try to launch, and whether Toro is running or not.
Retas! Pro allows you more flexibility in terms of line quality (generally softer overall, if that's what you want), plus it includes its own compositing package. Animate Pro may address the line quality, but it's my impression that it doesn't.
Thanks a lot for your explanation Lomex.
Due to your explanation, I decided to try something and I actually got it to work on W7 32-bit.
kevphil, my w7 32 is a really clean install, I didn't install any apps on it and Retas is the first app I installed there. Maybe that's why it worked there but not in XP.
Anyways, if your error message box is written in Chinese/Japanese, maybe you can post a screenshot of just the message box so I can take a look at it.
I read Japanese & Chinese a little. The error message on my XP was that jumbled unicode characters because I don't have the East Asian languange installed there.
If I can read the error message properly, maybe I'd be able to help you troubleshoot this.
@Lomax, I don't really use this app anymore, just curious of the HD version and the Stylos.
Used to use the old version many years back, and at that time, this app was the second I like the most compared to Softimage Toon and USAnimation. The first was Animo ;)
And like kevphil said, the line quality do look different compared to Animate Pro.
For some reason, the softness make it looks more like a traditional cel, while Animate Pro's line looks too digital for my taste.
Unfortunately, mine is a jumbled mess too. It only has an alert triangle icon at the left, 2 lines of gibberish, and an "okay" button in the bottom right. There are no other choices or an option to locate anything.
I have too much stuff currently installed to start with a new installation. :(
But thanks for your input. It IS interesting that you actually got it to work in W7.
BTW: I tried running the modules (and Toro) in various compatibility modes, but none of that made any difference.
so is the search over or did anyone ever crack this puppy?
Isnt retas studio. ANIMESTUDIO.
Hey guys i finally foudn a link to it. it works fine But the core retas and trace man are in Japanese. i can unserstand Japanese. here is the link
Does this thing use a dongle and only a dongle or do they also provide alternate licensing..by serial number perhaps?
The reason I am asking is because a screen is shown on startup that has a series of textboxes which resembles something where a serial number should be input. If this is the case then it can possibly be cracked :)
The other thing is the version numbers..there is just no consistency..can someone confirm what the latest version number is
This is NOT RETAS HD, which I posted some time ago and uses a Dongle.
This is Retas Studio, which is unlocked via Serial Number.
This release is already working, but only Paintman and Stylos have been translated to English. The other two are still in chinese.
There is no information about this Software on their website. I guess its a cut down version of the Still Developed Pro HD Version.
I think that retas studio 6.5.6 is the latest version.
”With the launch of sales of RETAS STUDIO "RETAS! PRO HD" series was terminated. ”
Anyway I have made a full english patch of all the programs included, but its still in the beta stage.
PM me for details if you want to help beta test the patch --- basically you'll just run the software like normal, and then report any bugs on my online bugtracker. Once all the flaws have been fixed, the patch will be released to the general public.
Confusing stuff hey.
I've used Toonz, USAnimation and Retas now (all Lomex's releases by the way :p ) but I personally I still find CAS Animo to be the best 2D app..pity they have gone out of business :(
Next one we should keep an eye out for is CelAction2D - heard alot of fab reviews about it
@ T0Ps :: So what should we download to test out your patch?
I would love to test it.
There was a guy on youtube who had it working, but the files disappeared
The files are online :D
Any luck with HD yet?
I have found Retas HD.
I don't suppose anybody knows where one might be able to find the Mac version, do they?
I know one exists (at least according to the official site), but no luck finding it so far.
I don't quite get this, but RETAS STUDIO is the latest version by Celsys to replace RETAS! PRO HD right?
So, has the software been released and cracked?
If so is it already translated to English?
Sorry for asking, after reading this whole thread I still don't quite get it.
