(*) VRaySun is never visible to GI rays (removes spots from the sun in the irradiance map);
(*) The "Default lights" option now has three possible values - "off", "on" and "off with GI";
(*) Added MaxScript access to the include/exclude lists of VRayLights (including VRaySun and VRayIES) through the "excludeList", "includeList" and "inclExclType" MaxScript properties;
(*) Camera information (transformation, FOV etc) is written to .vrimg and OpenEXR files when using the "Raw image file" option of the V-Ray VFB; vrimg2exr also translates this information;
(*) Support for region rendering directly in the V-Ray VFB;
(*) The "Affect alpha" option of VRayMtl has been replaced with "Affect channels" option and allows propagation of all render elements, not only the alpha channel;
(*) The alpha channel is correct for glossy refractions that have the "Affect channels" option set to "Color+alpha" or "All channels";
(*) The "Use irradiance map" option in VRayMtl materials now concerns the light cache too;
(*) VRayDirt texture has include/exclude options for objects that should affect and should be affected by the dirt texture;
(*) The default Distribution parameter of VRayDirt is set to 1.0 (corresponds to using the dirt for ambient occlusion);
(*) Camera overrides (e.g. spherical, box etc), work when rendering through a VRayPhysicalCamera, picking the exposure from it;
(*) Added another preview option to VRayProxy (preview from file as faces instead of edges);
(*) Added animation export parameters to the meshExport() MaxScript function;
(*) Option to specify the maximum number of faces in the preview of exported .vrmesh files;
(*) VRayProxy has the possibility to extract the geometry from the .vrmesh file as a 3ds Max mesh;
(*) When exporing a .vrmesh file, V-Ray will put up a warning if the file already exists;
(*) In VRayProxy objects, a sequence of '#' characters in the file name is replaced with the current frame number;
(*) Added "Horizontal offset" and "Vertical offset" parameters to VRayPhysicalCamera;

(*) Camera motion blur now works when rendering frames outside the current animation range;
(*) VRayFastSSS2 material was not visible in the VRayMtlSelect render element;
(*) Fixed issues when using alternate licensing servers;
(*) VRay2SidedMtl material did not list the translucency texture map in Track View;
(*) VRayLightMtl did not work with color and transparency mapping when the "Direct illumination" option was enabled;

(*) VRayEdgexTex did not keep its name when saved to a material library;
(*) Running the V-Ray material conversion script on scenes containing Arch&Design materials produced an error;
(*) Crash if using an override material with interpolated reflections/refractions;
(*) Orthographic views render straight lines instead of curves when using PowerNurbs;
(*) Fixed crash with displacement;
(*) VRayFur density map did not work with Falloff map in Distance blend/Object mode;
(*) The exposure slider in the V-Ray VFB could be moved out of the color corrections window;
(*) Exposure correction in the VFB was not applied when 3ds Max scene is loaded;

(*) Changing the color mode of VRayIES to "Temperature" did not enable the temperature spinner until the light is re-selected;

(*) V-Ray evaluated all objects at time 0 before starting the rendering - this is now done only when using the irradiance map animation modes;
(*) VRayProxy .vrmesh files not archived when using File > Archive is 3ds Max 9 and later;
(*) VRayHDRI maps not archived when using File > Archive is 3ds Max 9 and later;
(*) VRayIES profiles not archived when using File > Archive is 3ds Max 9 and later;

(*) Object properties not preserved when objects are automatically converted to proxies during .vrmesh export;

this works for me... could/can work at home(this version) and office(official dongle bought & paid for) with no problems at all...
can anyone maybe remember one of the first cracks of sp2 ?
in there was also a crack to crack distributed rendering,
if someone had thath crack for max 2009 can you post it?
i'm testing sp2 with crack and changed some things and it wil work full, only dr rendering is rendering black so that has to be cracked
when you install vray sp2 on this way it will work (only no dr rendering)
Try this:
1. Install the Demo version and crack it.
After Install the demo
copy "vray90.dll" to 3dsmax root
and also
copy "vrender90.dlr" to 3dsmax plugin folder
The watermark should disappear. But it can not save some AA settings;
and there is no Dist. Render. Motion blur may or may not work as well.
2. Backup ur Vrayplugins folder.
3. Install the full version “vray_adv_150SP2_max2009_x86 / x64.exe”'without the wibu key and crack it.
(copy "vray90.dll" to 3dsmax root
and also
copy "vrender90.dlr" to 3dsmax plugin folder)
Now copy (and overwrite) the plugins folder from the demo+crack install.
NOTE:make sure ur demo was cracked earlier. (or use the map in the crack folder)
With full version, the Physical camera and VrayDirt may not work,
so the files are needed from the Demo release.
4. Copy the following script VrayAASettingsFIX.ms
and put it into ur scripts startup/autostart folder.
NOTE: the script is very important for DR to work.
Well, will all the above, the VRay demo+Adv+Crack+Script comes really close to the retail version.
Haven’t been able to compare the “patched” version with the retail version for a speed/performance comparison yet.
Hopefully this solves most issues for u all.

In chaos folder 'Common files/ChaosGroup/ rename vrlservice.xml as vrlclient.xml ; in vray setting , use vray frame buffer; and use 'dynamic" as defaut geometry param (dont put 'auto' or 'static'). And finaly put a image in environment (in rendering menu) background before render. In my test here, I got good results on rendertime... try it yourself and tell me what you got...
Try V-Ray RC5 for 64bit....it work great in windows vista 64bit (and I guess it work great too in win 7 (I just try it one time and it work too)) in 3dsMax 9 (patched with 3dsMax 9 productivity booster (not naked fresh installation of 3dsMax 9)) cause it using keygen not patched dll...so it work great (as far as it do in my daily experience), and I never had problem with it.

Hi. I just wanted to let you know, since finishing my work on Fryrender SP2 I'm now working on a proper crack for Vray 1.5 sp3. I found a crack for the x86 version which is poorly done, but managed to create a x64 version of the same quality. (ie watermarked output, from time to time)
From what I've seen so far I'm pretty confident this is doable, unless some huge surprise awaits me when I dig deeper into Chaosgroup's code.
Don't give up hope.
I don't know if this has been released before, but here is my x64 "beta" crack that should be fully functional except sometimes watermarked output, if someone wants to play with it meanwhile:

Few months ago I was download V-Ray 1.5 sp3 adv x32 & x64 for Max 2010 with crack. Version that circulating internet. Today I was made some tests and on x32 & x64 no watermark and speed is great.
Compared with finalRender Stage-1 R3.0 SE & older ver. V-Ray is faster in Max x32 by 20% in Max x64 about 25%. Later I was made test with MR & Scanline and result are 100% true. I dont know how but this crack works fine.

You must do everything by the book. Put crack in Max x32 & x64 folder and before FIRST start of Max you must do this what you already know:
In x32 prog.files in 'Common files/ChaosGroup/' copy paste vrlservice.xml and name it vrlclient.xml (have both in folder). Same thing do in x64 prog.files.
And of course change default geometry in settings and set it to "dynamic".

I have an official copy of vray at work and we always turn off max's displacement when using a vraydisplace modifier. Especially if using light cache as secondary bounces as its trying to calculate for max and also vrays own, so it becomes stupidly slow.
Really if your using vray for displace then you should always untick max's!!

people gotta realize the truth... nobody is trying to crack this, xforce, or whoever, becoz they realized its just too hard, so they`re probably waiting on a demo version or something else to crack, so no candy for vray users
yeah... i just re-installed max 2009 to be able to work in vray.
The thing is though, i installed sp2 x64 advance, but it still says demo version..don't know why..Anybody got that issue?
Im wondering why you guys didnt buy it by make up some $ every person in this forum, someone buying it and sharing .. maybe i dont know something, but is it a good way to get it ?

I use 3ds max 2010 with 1.5 sp4... when I do not have to use vrayfur or vray displacemod....
why? because the crack version suggested by CGuser is very fast, it's not perfect but run well!!!

man you most be only lucky guy in the world then couse the last working release its still the old 1.5 sp2, sp3 is not working (10 times slower of the legit version even with dynamic set) and not mentionining watermarks and flicker that, at least in the last case, is not couse by the software but by the protection dongle, not even mentioning the sp4 that is a frankestein version of the sp3...oh of course about the sharing a legit copy, please lets be serious every copy as a hardware dongle that cant be cracked from 4 years so how you plan to start vray withtout it?

Becuse you need to have USB dongle to be able to use Vray. One buyed copy is ONE dongle. So there is no way 5 of us to buy it and use it same time.
Also this do not help crackers also, they have worked with original version and dongle, but it is hard to implement crack software when many features of Vray are tight with dongle, not just license.
I can bet that their sell rises after implementation of this dongle protection, significaly.

I'm not the only one that find that sp3/sp4 are faster than sp2... that's all
the crack version suggested by GCuser it's the best working for me. And I'm happy about only problem it's the random watermark.... any way sp4 it's faster in calculating vrlmap and vrmap. I use it for rendering the scenes in max 2009..
there are people that are more luckier than me they do no have watermark problem...
I heard that today companies would rather pay crackers than let them cracking their soft.
Honestly , i would buy legal soft if it wasnt sooo expensive for students (im a student but not computer science and graphics, i study medicine and just love 3d graphics ), all you in US are lucky, becoz there everything is almost for free comparing to the poland prices and zloty, and we earn almost 3 times less than you in US in similar work, so the soft is especial expensive for polish. Ok enough sorrow Im greatful i dont live in somalia dying from hunger..
I will have to agree with Jinj, the watermark is hit and miss, but it is fast. Vray sp3a with Vue 8 and no watermarks most of the time. I'll have to give it a shot on the laptop it see how the speed is, it's a little biased with 8 buckets on this one.
if we're speaking of having a crappy half not working crack i think that its pretty unusefull.. a working vray version (after sp2) is not avaiable in the scene, and like i said a random watermark or flickering in animation doesnt make those version working, ive test them all and i dont know where you benchmark the versions, but 4 min on my quad core compare to 1 hour and a half on same machine is not a working version.
any news on this hard to crack plugin

im a bit clueless, that the bugspray make them sometimes less visible depending "on your image sampler"
yet you get black vray letters on a very subtle black background wich should mess up your animations.
friends,.. it seems crack for this sp4a is not easily available.. but vray sp4a educational version is for $150 only... it ll come with a lisence dongle... a professional dongle emulator provider can provide us with the emulator for this dongle... n this emulator with the sp4a can work on any machine... what say...
