use the HOSE object instead of a cylinder and use FFD on it

or...(a better way)

use a point curve (NURBS), and set enable in renderer and enable in viewport, and apply mapping coords.
then simply animate the points.

Thanks but it didn’t work i want the tentacles to move alone when i move the jellyfish
If you see the Video of sensation trailer the jellyfish make a free move that i want.

There is a video tutoliar about how to make those jellyfish but it is from Maya.
The tutoliar call it THE MAKING OF WORMS BY SIL VAN DER WOERD

hmm - try using the nurbs method... but i feel that what you want may have to be done with some scripting!!!

doing the tentacles/strands as explained in my 2nd thread isn't that hard to do.

if you cannot do that, then i suggest getting hold of max2010 fundamentals (which can be found on here), and learning a bit more before attempting your project

You could try to use a pathdeform modifier on a cylinder and animate the spline

See the flex modifier examples. There is jellyfish.max demo there too.
