Nomad if you can do something about the m4d please help.

Mental ray has fast occlusion with bent normal, reflective occlusion mode, fast realistic skin shader, phyical sss for things like transluscent glass, production shaders for 3d live footage integration, physical specular models like coke terrance, light portals, supports shader creation through short meta sl scripts, It can render consistently very large scenes, Supports GPU rendering with Iray for people with Telsa Nvida card with 300 processors you are in the hands of super computing.
This just to mention a few.

I guess we shall nomad and crew are not willing to bring m4d to us,
the renderer that has made quality film rendering for autodesk products for years.
Nomad what happened, no love foe m4d.

4 options you have:
  1. buy the full retail version (or copy it from someone who has), share the full retail version. It's a easter 'bargain': 650 iirc.
  2. wait patiently for someone else to do so (and stop further begging or complaining).
  3. understand that no cracker will code in the missing functionality on his own and please give up on mc4d cracked from a demo.
  4. get the skills it needs and do it on your own
I don't see any sense in someone hacking a stupid demo that has many essential features missing.
(and it's pretty buggy). Even if a patch could remove the pixel dimension limit, the watermarks and
the polygon limit it would still be x32 only, without framebuffer and without material conversion support.
Lots of effort for little outcome. Who needs that?

Default Why AR or C4D Physical will never be FX production ready or at least fixed for another 10 years

Just a few basics that will never work as Maxon suggests.
- Fucked up alpha use. Have a tree with alpha leaves. You'll go crazy waiting for render And be pissed off when try to do alpha or object pass.
- Try to render Hair or any Volumetrics behind glass directly, no bypass.
- AR DOF is a joke.
- Physical is as fast as Fry or Maxwell were when they started with alpha in late 2004 (fry 2007).

Rendering w/ C4D default engines is useless for FX & any real animation unless you:
- buy plugins
- fake GI by putting in extra lights
- have a farm

My opinion on this is:
Yes, it would be nice to have this renderer as an add on (even Cebas FinalRender was a magic to play with compared to VRay integration which still lacks in features FR had back then - DR, node based materials...), but you've been saved by an alembic format so learn other apps (Houdini, Maya, Max, XSI... even Blender) if you really want to be competitive on any market (in any industry). When accustom to C4D learn Maya as it is very similar just whole more powerful & detailed.

As it was stated before > M4D will only be cracked when full installers are provided.

Rant?

I've been pretty darn busy for the last years mostly because of C4D/Nuke (I cannot say the same of some of my friends who use Maya). I also use Houdini pretty much but mainly it's C4D where my cash comes from. Guess it's ok for carpenter to blame his saw and axe if nobody orders stuff from him..

Please clarify what you are talking about here: You're ranting about C4D renderers and suggest people move away from it? Or are you just pissed off at C4D generally and suggest people move away from it? Please tell me how Maya can compete against MoGraph in same amount of time. Besides modeling history, how are Maya's modeling tools better than in C4D? Viewport speed is the only thing I'd want from Maya. If you meant Maya has better render engines, gtfo and stop lying to people here.

If you're talking about render engines, sure you can rant all you want, C4D's native render engine (AR/Phys) is still one of the faster and more stable ones when not going to play with GI. If you don't like it (you apparently don't), there are plenty of other render engines around there, must be closer to ten nowadays? It's shader system lacks a thing or two but you can still achieve pretty much everything with it -but it takes too much time, imo, when doing something more complicated.

So what's your point again? I say learn whatever software suits you best, pick any render engine that gets the job done and learn to composite. Or go work to a large studio and forget everything about artistic freedom. In case you actually do need 100+ mil physics simulated particles, C4D+compositing oughta do the trick just fine.

Default off-topic

You made it this way.
Should learn how to distinguish between rant & describing flaws (critic? & offering solutions). These are all cons that Maxon hides.
You read my opinion as you wish. If it's negative, is it a rant, good boy?
So how to be better artist if you are unwilling to take critic and have better tools? Yes, develop yourself or buy for yours truly.
How to have a better 'reader'? Teach, share with...

So please read again with a softer tone. Did I lied?
MR is still better than AR & physical combined.
I've been abusing C4D since r8, so? I also work for studios using their versions, so? I know about bypasses, so? I know about other tools, so?

Just wanted to motivate someone to make an act, not someone who would ejaculate his peripheral prejudicial juices all over his intellect.

Yes, I would prefer this engine as i know what it can do... and I agree with those before, who just bump.
BTW
Guess your carpenter knows nothing about wood properties, detailing, precision work, joints & polishes. Of course nobody wants a lousy work. Tools does not make a carpenter. Camera does not make a photographer. Writing doesn't make a writer. Reader does.

I reported both of us, as we are doing nothing but hitting the hay. Nothing to do with the thread. Also, I'm so sick of your smart-ass attitude. I apologize for any pain that i caused.

I read your post with tone that you felt like venting some steam. My apologies, I wasn't sure if you were talking about render engines or C4D as whole.

Personally I've been waiting for years to Maxon just ditch their render engine and concentrate on other stuff: Cloth is shit and completely useless unless it for flag pole animation or pillow-making. Hair is half-done. TP is the laughing stock of all 3D commune. Modeling tools could use some severe boost. Viewport can handle like dozen objects before it's bogged down. Sculpting is hardly going to improve anytime soon (that's the Maxon style: Make new features and leave the old ones unpolished). They will never compete much any render engine, and my opinion is that they shouldn't even bother. Make Vray as their official engine, or better yet, Arnold.

I dig C4D more than my girlfriend, but I've no problems being realistic about their skills. She can't cook and is messy, and quite frankly my girlfriend is not much of a render engine. Still love 'em as they are.

On the other hand, my opinion of Mentalray is not that flattering either: Veeery crashy (buggy?) and somewhat unpredictable. Can't understand the logic behind it. I'm not sure how this M4D works, worst case scenario is that is buggy and also includes MR's bugs -> not good. Then again I could be wrong, who knows as I'm not going to spend time on crippled demo versions.

I've been hoping and praying for FinalRender to port to OSX, but that's not going to happen in my lifetime. So yea, full M4D installer would be kewl - if I was the author I'd publish a version of somesort myself, just to keep it from dying..
