Nick catches alot of flac, especially here :P. This time Nick has done it right. Bravo Nick. HDR lighting should be set up like this as an easy rig, with direct control over seamless floor and background, and image and color adjustments. I like the thought of having the lighting setup rigged and not doing all this manually. Having the preview of the HDRI (inverted smaller sphere as reference), HDR color adjustments, seamless floor and background adjustments, etc.in one panel is much easier and clever. The HDR rig is so well setup and thought-out, that I bet Nick's rig makes it in future versions of apps such as C4d, Maya, Modo, and Max. I know we can do all this without it being rigged for us, and easy all in one panel, but for me this is a relief. Thanks Nick, keep doing what you are doing bro.
