This is for 2008+, for 9 you have to use old one

For Productivity Booster i guess you need to reinstall it and install Rev 3 skipping 1, but i do not know weather or not Rev 3 would have anything related to fixing PhysX recognize your max, thought about hotfixes on autodesk official site. You can also try asking Gavin himself what may be the problem. It is still free plugin so it is not that you can not ask or somthing. Remember to point out that you are trying 1.X and are on max 9. But before that you can try reinstalling and adding any SP's that are avaible (SP2 and hot fix 4) and try installing old version again. Acording to documentation you of course need PhysX installed on your pc (minimum requirements is a GPU with 256MB ram and 32 cores and PhysX SDK although i think i once try'ed old 1.X but do not remember for sure what version it was, maybe 9, can't remember weather or not had SDK at that time or just plugin, only problem i had was an error under vista with max 9 itself showing some dll problem (not DirectX), just googled that dll and had to disable aero but did not had errors when installing physx plugin

Where did you got that idea from? PhysX comes with GPU not Windows 7, and you still need a driver, or you think of something completely different

I can see it installed, I'm pretty sure but I could be mistaken that it comes standard with all the other drivers as a complete package with windows 7. I know I didn't install it, yet it is installed

That PhysX comes as part of Nvidia drivers for GPU, is used within games and programs that support it.

This PhysX is plugin to use GPU PhysX capabilities for simulations and other things in max

Oh so they are completely separate plugins, so this means that I need to install the above physics x. I currently run both 2009 and 2010. Vray is on 2009 so will one plugin cover both apps.

anyone got this to work ?
It installed fine but the simulation always seems to stop about frame 10 and nothing interacts.
also I noticed they talk about a menu in the utilities menu. its just not there on mine. I got a toolbar and modifier, thats all.
anyone got a scene which works so i can see if mine works or not ?

thanks

in help you have physx menu screenshot in The Plug-in Interface

friction ramp sample screenshot

Links:

Works fine, does not stop at 10th frame, menu was from start.

If you do not see it that may be becouse you are using your own custom ui, if so you need to add it manually, as for hang, if you are using ati gpu somthing like this could happen but not know for sure, simulation works on my end, only a bit slow (4 ROP's, using integrated gpu, but still samples work)

Unless you are using old 1.0.6. If so check your manual

Hmmmm. I installed it but it runs fairly slow. Opened those sample scenes and the slowest one is crushig silo... Feels like there is no GPU acceleration. Also when disable physix gpu acceleration from NV control panel, there is no difference in speed.

I installed latest physx system software.

Do I need physx sdk?

Hey all,
I have installed max 2009 x64 and max 2011 x64.

I run the latest physx plugin from the links here , NVIDIA_PhysX_Plug-in_3dsMax_x64_2.01.1222.0945

And seems like it only installs the 2009 ver and not the 2010 or 2011 for that manner.
Do I must have 2010 installed in order to copy those plugins to 2011?
That's a bummer..
