Default Made in USA...

Here's a good one for you fellow Americans...

If you have issues with buying the Chinese crap found everywhere and try to avoid it...Walmart ought be called "Chinamart" will get a kick out of this.

My wife and I buy in bulk to save money when we can. So we get stuff, divide it up and freeze or store portions etc.
We eat brown rice so the other day she comes home with a big bag of brown rice she said was on "special" at the market.
We always like to get local stuff if we can or at least stuff produced in the states for the most part.
The bag of rice had Premium Quality, Highest Grade and other meaningless stuff in big letters on the bag.
And at the bottom "Product of USA".

Later fixing diner she was going to make some rice and remarked that she was checking the instructions and they seemed a little weird.
Having a look I saw they were obviously in "Engrish" and contradicted themselves as to method, time etc.
So she just made it the way we usually do.
But I was curious and read on the package where it was distributed by a co. in Commerce, CA so I called them this morning.

Told the person that I was curious about the odd cooking instructions...and asked where was the rice grown?
There was a long pause...finally she said it was grown in China and produced in Usa, China...

The town changed it's name to Usa so it can print "Made in USA" or "Produced in USA" on the labels of products they make!!

The rice by the way wasn't bad...

That company was being very deceitful, then again it could just be the person handling the call did not know what to say.

Heh, that's a good one.

Great story, unfortunately it is commercial practice worldwide. Seriously, the only thing that matters is the quality of the food, I think the amount of pesticides and other shit, whether food is genetically modified, etc..

n your computer, phone, etc.. The Chinese produce different levels of quality, the question is whether you have the money for quality. I'm old enough to remember that the same situation was with goods from Japan. First it was cheap crap, then beautifully designed shit, look at what the situation is now, well designed goods too expensive.
