Let me know if you have any problems. Supposed to be a 10 layer limit and limited res output, but It seemed fine (for a n00b).

If you are running some older gtk libs (which might be the case with these so called "enterprise linux systems") you might need a gtkfix.
Im not sure but i suppose n0mad included the downloaded 8.1.1 installer from piranha starter and made some magical binary exchanging??

If ldd on piranha.bin dont throw up some important libs missing try to apply the gtkfix

Do that on you own risk!!!

Actually, its a ddl from ifx, extracted, and cracked on windows..lol. All I did was reset the executable switch and remade the tarball.

centos 5.3... you should strongly think about an update...
whatever...

centos 5.3 only have libgnutls.so.13 per default, the way you could try it is to locate your libgnutls.so.13 and made a symlink with something like

linking the only existing libgnutls.so.28 to libgnutls.so.26 does not solve the problem:

Yeah it's not working. I'm on arch and have libgnutls.so.28 installed as well and getting the same error. Running

Link(s):

Confirms what the error is telling: no such symbol is defined in so.28.

So I guess libgnutls.so.28 isn't bacwards compatible with so.26. Nothing much to do about that.

From AUR I could install libgnutls26 on arch side by side with current version, and then it runs fine. I'm not to familiar with centos, but you need to see if you can find an RPM package with libgnutls26 and then install that.

If the symbols are not compiled for whatever reason that would be the only way to solve it.
Find a rpm including libgnutls26, place the libs to some piranha path and export the lib path from a shell launcher before executing the binary.

Thanks! Tried playback of DPX, TGA (raw), CinemaDNG and of course ARC (internal format). Color tools are responsive and fast. Start piranha from terminal with -float 32 to have high bit depth float arc as render option and better performance with NVIDIA cards with some color tools (hue, Sat/hue, Sat/L).

Use the waveform monitor in "region" mode with transparency. This feature is brilliant. If the image looks weird press "F9" or click Piranha logo (you can find this over the playback controls) to recalculate. This happens sometimes.

Have fun!

How about importing clips in mp4 or mov format? Under the any distro I can't make it work. What I'm missing to do?

This version 8.1.1 lacks the part that handles these type of video codecs (libquicktime loader). However you can convert your video to uncompressed with ffmpeg.

Open a terminal and do it like this:
ffmpeg -i you_video.mp4 -c:v v210 -c:a pcm_s16le your_video_uncompressed.mov

You might want to use a SSD for playback then. File size is huge.

Hope this works for you!

Many thanks for sugestion - I did the same converting movie clip to image sequence, but ieverything like so seems very clumsy for me, although Piranha looks very atractive and competent.
Linux versatility and stability is so wonderfull, but unfortunatelly lacks in some standard software solutions. I hope that once we may get a sensational all-round gift - besides Blender - like Mistika

With marvelous distro Stella 6.6 (Centos 6.6 with ready repos) - which for me it seems the best one - it works perfectly even without installation.

It will be so gret if someone could help to provide Mistika. Than really there will be no reason to ever again look back to Windows or Mac.

Well, if someone here have right to sound apodictic - "Stop asking" - that's nOMAD, without whom (and several similarly gifted and marvelous generous personalities) cgpersia apparently wouldn't indeed exist.

But, for me it's becoming 'gnosticaly' interesting: what's so special about Mistika alone that we couldn't ask or have minimal hope to get it (of course, illegal-amoral) cracked - and, if I'm not mistake, it's crack really exist? Why Flame yes (million thanks o0000o and others), Piranha yes (milion thanks nOMAD!), but answer for Mistika - "Stop asking, NO". Are the creators of Mistika here? But even if it is so, for me it seems without doubt that piratized softwares have greater chance to get publicity.

nOMAD and other autorities, sorry for my ignorancy and naive thoughts, you are probably 99% right and have all arguments and reasons for such attitude - I'm really incompetent - but maybe (1%) for Mistika will be better if more news (pirats as advertisers) flows arround.

For those having problems with starting piranha, try using ./piranha.bin instead of ./piranha. It worked here!
